Za otprilike milijardu dolara Facebook će kupiti kompaniju koja stoji iza foto servisa i društvene mreže Instagram.
Podsetimo, Instagram je kao iOS aplikacija osvojio više od 30 miliona korisnika, da bi upravo pre nekoliko dana postao dostupan i Android korisnicima te je tim korakom postao globalno popularan.
Marku Zuckerbergu očito nije trebalo dugo da zbroji dva i dva pa se u rekordnom roku odlučio na akviziciju. Instagram će i dalje funkcionisati kao zaseban servis, a o tome hoće li u budućnosti doći do integracije sa Facebook-om za sada nema informacija.
Osnivač najpopularnije društvene mreže na svetu, Mark Zuckerberg, rekao je da će talentovana ekipa iz Instagram-a pridružiti Facebook-u kako bi omogućila još bolje iskustvo deljenja fotografija na njihovoj stranici.
Zuckerberg je napisao na svom profilu:
I'm excited to share the news that we've agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook.
For years, we've focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family. Now, we'll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests.
We believe these are different experiences that complement each other. But in order to do this well, we need to be mindful about keeping and building on Instagram's strengths and features rather than just trying to integrate everything into Facebook.
That's why we're committed to building and growing Instagram independently. Millions of people around the world love the Instagram app and the brand associated with it, and our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people.
We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.
These and many other features are important parts of the Instagram experience and we understand that. We will try to learn from Instagram's experience to build similar features into our other products. At the same time, we will try to help Instagram continue to grow by using Facebook's strong engineering team and infrastructure.
This is an important milestone for Facebook because it's the first time we've ever acquired a product and company with so many users. We don't plan on doing many more of these, if any at all. But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together.
We're looking forward to working with the Instagram team and to all of the great new experiences we're going to be able to build together.
Brojni korisnici Instagram-a nisu zadovoljni sa Facebook-ovom akvizicijom pa su mnogi od njih na društvenim mrežama najavili gašenje svojih profila.
Ipak, bez obzira što je Zuckerberg rekao da će Instagram nastaviti sa poslovanjem kao i do sada te će mu Facebook samo pomoći sa svojom infrastrukturom i znanjem svojih inženjera, veliki broj korisnika ove aplikacije na društvenim mrežama najavio je da će izbrisati svoje fotografije i ugasiti profile na Instagram-u jer ne žele da imaju nikakve veze sa Facebook-om.
Korisnici su sada u strahu od dve stvari – da će Facebook "uništiti" Instagram, tj. da će ga vezati za Zuckerbergovu društvenu mrežu te da će sada imati problema sa privatnosti svojih fotografija po čemu je Facebook ionako poznat – jedan korisnik je na Twitter-u napisao kako sada fotografije sa Instagrama postaju vlasništvo FBI-a.
Na Mashable-u kažu da se svi korisnici Instagram-a sada mogu pitati kada će ova popularna aplikacija postati "samo još jedna obična aplikacija za Facebook", odnosno koliko će vremena proći dok ne nestane sve po čemu je Instagram bio poseban.
Među brojnim reakcijama korisnika koje su objavili na društvenim mrežama svakako treba izdvojiti dve objave na Twitter-u: "Slika ne vredi hiljadu reči – ona sada vredi milijardu dolara" i "Kodak je bankrotirao, a Instagram vredi milijardu dolara – dobro došli u 2012. godinu."
Dakle, stvar je jasna, ostaje samo da vidimo da li će Facebook uništiti Instagram kao što je to učinio sa Gowalla-om.
